How it works
Getting started is easy:
- Plug the Barnluren adapter into a wall socket and connect it to your Wi-Fi via the Barnluren app.
- Plug in any landline phone (or buy one from Barnluren).
- Start calling friends and family who have been added to your approved contact list.
Receiving calls
In order to make calls via Barnluren, the person receiving the call must either have the Barnluren app downloaded on their smartphone or have a Barnluren of their own.
When you set up Barnluren, you choose which contacts can be called and received calls from. No one else can call Barnluren (and it is not possible to call 112/911, whether by mistake or if needed). This is a phone intended solely for calls between family and friends.

The Story
Barnluren was founded by Greg – a Kiwi who has called Sweden home for the past decade – and his brother-in-law, Ivan, who is from Croatia.
Living in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, Greg’s daughter loved calling her grandparents in New Zealand and her family in Croatia. However, the video screens kept getting in the way of meaningful connection. Wanting a better solution, Greg and Ivan set out to recreate the magic of the classic landlines they grew up with, reimagined as a modern, Wi-Fi-enabled home phone.
(As with most landline innovations; it’s a dad thing.)
